Prop CJ van der Linde and hooker Bandise Maku have joined the Springbok squad in Witbank ahead of this weekend's first Test against Italy at the Puma Stadium.Maku joins the squad to cover for captain John Smit, who has a grade 1 hamstring strain whilst van der Linde returns to the squad after taking part in the one-off Test against Wales in Cardiff ten days ago.Smit, who sustained the injury before last weekend's Test against France, underwent a scan in Durban on Monday and is likely to rejoin the squad in East London next week before the second Test against Italy. Team doctor Craig Roberts confirmed that the injury was not severe and that Smit could be fit for the East London Test.The only other injury concern is flank Schalk Burger, who rolled his ankle towards the end of the French Test but should recover in time for the Italy clash.
